*La Jetée* was photographed in 2008 in the Kadıköy district of Istanbul. To me, the pier marks a boundary between sea and land, a line that suggests movement yet imposes restraint. It serves as a metaphor for the limits of the human condition, both physical and mental: a man-made obstruction that appears passable, yet quietly denies possibility. In this sense, it reflects a moment of reckoning, a confrontation with reality, or even a dark night of the soul. A humble idea informed by Chris Marker’s film *La Jetée*.
