At the center of Wrocław, Cathedral Island, sometimes known as Ostrów Tumski, is the oldest neighborhood in the city—a wonderfully kept collection of medieval architecture, holy legacy, and subdued respect. This location personally has great significance for me. Years ago, driven in by the city's atmosphere when visiting my partner Daria, who was studying nearby, I first started really exploring photography. The image submitted shows Cathedral Island and Tumski Bridge at night—a moment when the scenery changes totally. The island seems caught between history and present under the brightness of its famous gas lanterns, still lit evening by a lamplighter in a centuries-old custom. This is the only place I have ever seen this custom.
