Title: 49 Days In Japan, the number forty-nine marks a threshold between this world and the next. It is a time believed to belong neither fully to the living nor to the dead. This photograph was created by placing a human presence within a field of red spider lilies—flowers traditionally associated with death, farewell, and remembrance. The figure does not act, speak, or resist, but simply exists, suspended within the landscape. Rather than depicting loss directly, the work lingers in the quiet interval after it. It is an image about stillness, acceptance, and the fragile boundary where grief softens into silence.
