Through my friend John Wooler, I had an opportunity to photograph the christian folk music group The Eagle Rock Gospel Singers. The group wanted to have an old fashioned little church as their backdrop. Easier said than done. Finding a little church out in the country practically doesn't exist in the modern sprawl of Southern California. There was zero budget for the shoot and going into the deep south of America was not in the cards. After some careful research I found one that used to be an old film set at the Paramount Ranch which is now a state park in Agoura Hills, CA. It was the only building that survived the Woosley fires from a few years back that destroyed an entire western town set. With respect to the rattlesnakes and thousands of bees that now inhabit the structure we prevailed. I thought the crucifix painted onto the lead singers hand was a nice touch.
