I passed this remote railway station, standing isolated in the rain and gloom, whilst travelling from Queenstown to Milford Sound and knew it would make for a perfect minimalist subject. Safe in the knowledge that it would probably still be raining when I made the return journey a few days later, I didn't stop, merely marking the location into my maps. As predicted, the weather was exactly the same on the return journey so I parked up and spent over an hour in the wet conditions refining my composition with the aim of trying to convey to the viewer how bleak and grim it must have been waiting on the platform for the next rain
