There is a moment when matter stops being what it was and becomes something else. It is an invisible threshold, a passage: the melting point. This photographic series explores that suspended instant between stability and transformation. Metal, a symbol of solidity and permanence, is crossed by heat and light until it becomes fluid, alive, and mutable. The welding arc illuminates the scene like a sudden flash, while sparks scatter through space like traces of energy, almost as if they were marks drawn in the air. The technical gesture becomes an artistic one. The hand guiding the weld is not only an instrument of precision, but also a mediator between control and transformation, between design and matter. In this dialogue of light, fire, and metal, industrial work takes on an almost sculptural dimension, where each fusion is both a process and an act of creation. Within the context of fluid power engineering — a discipline that governs and transmits energy through fluids — these images symbolically represent the origin of strength and functionality in mechanical structures. Before energy can be channeled and controlled, there is a primary moment in which matter must transform in order to receive that function. “Melting Point” therefore becomes not only a technical reference, but also a poetic concept: the place where industry and art meet, where the rigor of engineering coexists with the visual power of transformation. It is the moment when matter changes state, and with it, the way we perceive it.
